I want to thank @BrendaHauff and @KatieAnn_76 for their great AR presentation at edcampKS! Without their knowledge, we would have never known about this new and exciting technology.
At the beginning of the year, we learned about poetry. Students wrote bio poems, ABC poems, acrostic poems, onomatopoeia poems, and haiku. I was blown away at how creative everyone is! The students were very excited to share these poems with everyone in a very futuristic way called augmented reality. If you want to view the poems you will need a smartphone or tablet. You will need to download a free app called Layar.

We also explored augmented reality using the iPad app and website Colarapp. This website is amazing. Students can color and design a coloring page, then make it come alive using the app.
Another really cool augmented reality app is AR Flashcards by Mitchlehan Media. This free app is great for teaching younger children about the alphabet and animals. As you can see, older children will love this interactiveness of this app.
